The Edo State House of Assembly has approved a revised supplementary budget of N485 billion for the administration led by Governor Monday Okpebholo. This development was confirmed during a plenary session on Monday.
As part of the proceedings, the Assembly also screened and confirmed Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole as the state’s Commissioner for Health, signaling steps toward bolstering the state’s healthcare sector.
The Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku, noted that the revised budget would enable the new administration to effectively pursue developmental initiatives across the state.
The approved budget allocates N283.087 billion for capital expenditure and N202.54 billion for recurrent expenses, providing a clear framework for managing the state’s financial priorities.
The approval follows a series of recent budget revisions under the previous administration. On May 22, 2024, the Assembly had approved a N409.2 billion supplementary budget for former Governor Godwin Obaseki. Earlier in the year, the Assembly increased the state’s 2024 budget from N321.4 billion to N342.8 billion.
In August 2024, just a month before the gubernatorial election, the House passed a N450 billion revised supplementary budget presented by Obaseki. The new N485 billion budget under Governor Okpebholo surpasses this by N36 billion, reflecting increased funding for ongoing and future projects in the state.
