The All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed its campaign council for the upcoming Edo State governorship election, slated for September 21, 2024. Notably, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo, Philip Shaibu, has been included in the list.
Shaibu’s inclusion comes shortly after a Federal High Court in Abuja ruled his impeachment by the Edo House of Assembly illegal. Justice James Omotosho declared that Shaibu’s removal was against the law, leading to his reinstatement just three months after being ousted.
The APC’s National Working Committee released the 197-member campaign council list through the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu. The council is chaired by Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu. Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda and former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole have been appointed as co-chairman and deputy chairman, respectively, to support Otu.
In addition to these key figures, the council comprises other prominent APC members, including Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who will serve as Assistant Secretary. Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu are also part of the team.
