Edo Governor Okpebholo Signs N675bn 2025 Appropriation Bill

The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill, valued at N675 billion, into law. The budget, titled “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo,” aims to revive the state’s economy and ensure the provision of democratic benefits to its citizens.

The signing ceremony took place at the Government House in Benin City. Speaking during the event, Governor Okpebholo emphasized the budget’s importance in addressing the state’s economic challenges.

“I have just signed into law, a budget of 675,220,058,858.52 tagged a renewed Hope budget for a rising Edo. It is hoped that the 2025 approved budget will revive the economy of Edo State and deliver the dividend of democracy to the good people of the state,” he stated.

Governor Okpebholo highlighted that the budget prioritizes capital expenditure to support major infrastructure and development projects in the coming fiscal year. He expressed his administration’s dedication to improving the state’s infrastructure and uplifting the standard of living for Edo residents.

The Governor also extended his gratitude to the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, and other assembly members for their swift approval of the budget.

Earlier, while presenting the budget for signing, Rt. Hon. Agbebaku explained that the Assembly had increased the original proposal of N605 billion. This adjustment, he noted, was made to allocate additional resources to key sectors such as agriculture, ensuring a broader impact on the state’s development.
