Edo: PDP NWC Reaffirms Aziegbemi-Led Caretaker Committee

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially restated its recognition of the Dr. Tony Aziegbemi-led 10-member Caretaker Committee as the legitimate leadership in Edo State. The party made this position clear in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba.

Ologunagba noted that the party has not yet held elections for a new State Executive Committee and warned against individuals who are falsely claiming leadership positions.

“The PDP’s attention has been drawn to the activities of certain individuals who are illegally arrogating offices to themselves, issuing unauthorized directives, and attempting to convene meetings. These actions are detrimental to the stability of our party in Edo State,” he stated.

He further noted that the party’s Edo State Chapter remains under the control of the Caretaker Committee appointed by the National Working Committee (NWC), in line with Section 29 (2)(b) of the PDP Constitution. This committee is tasked with managing party affairs until a proper election is conducted to select a new leadership team.

Recognized Leadership List

For clarity, the PDP reaffirmed that the officially recognized Edo State leadership consists of:

  • Dr. Tony Aziegbemi – Chairman
  • Hon. Henry Duke Tenebe – Secretary
  • Hon. Harrison Omagbon
  • Hon. Fidel Igenegbale
  • Hon. Chris Nehikhare
  • Tony Anenih Jnr.
  • Arch. Bishop Anthony Okosun
  • Hon. Segun Saiki
  • Adezat Kuburat Ibrahim
  • Augustine Edosomwan

The party also issued a warning to individuals who are falsely presenting themselves as members of the state executive. It made it clear that anyone who continues to do so will be regarded as an impostor.

“The PDP has not elected a new Executive for Edo State. Any person acting contrary to this directive risks disciplinary action, as stipulated by the party’s constitution (as amended in 2017),” Ologunagba warned.
