Edo Transport Firm to Restart Services June 27

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced that the state’s official transport company, Edo Line, will return to full operations on Thursday, June 27. This update was made during his recent inspection of infrastructure developments within Edo South.

Governor Okpebholo visited the newly constructed Edo Line station where final checks are being carried out in preparation for the transport service’s relaunch. According to him, the resumption will provide much-needed relief for travelers within and beyond the state.

“I have just come to look at the work that is going on here, in the New Edo Line station. The vehicles are ready. Everything is set. We are trying to see how we can commence. The idea is to come and look at the level of preparation of our commencement,” the governor said during the visit.

The Managing Director of Edo State Transport Authority, Oligbe Henshaw, also confirmed the planned return of the service. He explained that the necessary preparations are almost complete, including upgrades to the terminal.

“This is the state terminal for the New Edo Line Nigeria Ltd. And by the special grace of God on the 27th of June this year, we shall be commencing operations properly,” Henshaw said.

He further noted that installations such as CCTV systems, control rooms, and interior partitions at the terminal will be ready before the set launch date. These improvements aim to enhance passenger safety and comfort.

Governor Okpebholo didn’t limit his tour to the transport hub. He also reviewed progress on several major road projects, including the Sapele Road, a critical federal route linking Edo and Delta States. He urged contractors to speed up construction to reduce the ongoing traffic delays.

In response, the CEO of CBC Group, Li Ou Fu, stated that his company would finish the current segment of the Sapele Road within two weeks.

The Governor also stopped at Temboga Road and Palace Road to assess work being done there. These projects are part of a broader effort by the state government to improve road conditions and accessibility across Edo.
