Operatives from the Gombe Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 21 individuals in Bauchi State for alleged involvement in internet fraud.
The commission, in a statement shared on its official Facebook page on Monday, noted that the arrests were made based on reliable intelligence. The suspects were reportedly apprehended at two locations—Kaure New Government Reservation Area and Awala, along Maiduguri Road in Bauchi State.
During the operation, EFCC operatives recovered several items believed to be proceeds of fraudulent activities. The statement noted that among the seized items were a BMW and a Toyota Camry, along with three PlayStation 5 consoles, 30 high-end mobile phones, a flat-screen television, six Point of Sale (POS) machines, four iPads, and five laptops.
The EFCC assured the public that investigations were ongoing, and the suspects would be charged in court once all necessary inquiries were completed.
