EFCC Withdraws Arrest Warrant Against Gospel Singer Mercy Chinwo’s Ex-Manager

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has withdrawn the arrest warrant previously issued against Ezekiel Thankgod, the former manager of popular gospel artist Mercy Chinwo. Thankgod was accused of involvement in a $345,000 fraud case, which had drawn significant public attention.

The arrest warrant was initially issued by Justice Alexander Owoeye on January 16, 2025, after the EFCC filed an ex parte application. This legal move sought to compel Thankgod’s presence in court to face criminal charges related to the alleged financial crime. The EFCC claimed the funds in question were fraudulently obtained, prompting the legal actions against the former music producer.

However, developments during Friday’s court session changed the course of the case. The EFCC’s lawyer, Mrs. Bilikisu Buhari, formally applied to withdraw the arrest warrant previously issued against Thankgod. While no detailed explanation was provided in court about the decision to withdraw the warrant, this marks a significant shift in the proceedings.
