Eid-el-Fitr: FG Declares Monday, Tuesday Public Holidays

The Federal Government has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, shared the minister’s message, in which he congratulated Muslims across the country for successfully completing the Ramadan fast.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also used the opportunity to encourage Muslims to continue embracing values such as love, generosity, and peace. He noted that these virtues are essential for fostering unity among people of different backgrounds.

Furthermore, the minister spoke about the need for national unity and religious harmony. He urged Nigerians to use the occasion to strengthen bonds across religious and ethnic divides, promoting a sense of togetherness.

Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, is a significant celebration for Muslims worldwide. It is a time of joy, gratitude, and charity, where families and communities come together to share meals and extend help to the less privileged.
