In the wake of Donald Trump’s recent victory in the U.S. presidential election, Vivian Wilson, the transgender daughter of tech billionaire Elon Musk, has revealed plans to leave the United States.
Vivian, who is 20 years old, expressed her concerns about Trump’s return to office and its potential implications for transgender rights in a post on the social media platform Threads.
Reflecting on her decision, she shared, “I don’t see my future in the United States.” Her statement underscored her apprehension about the possible social and political climate under Trump’s leadership, even if anti-transgender policies do not immediately emerge.
She noted, “I’ve thought this for a while, but yesterday confirmed it for me. Even if he’s only in office for four years, even if anti-trans regulations don’t materialise, the people who voted for this aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.”
Born Xavier Musk in 2004, Vivian legally changed her name and gender in 2022, marking a significant step to distance herself from her father by adopting her mother’s maiden name, Wilson.
Over the years, Musk has been outspoken about his estrangement from Vivian, who has severed ties with him, particularly as they differ on issues related to gender identity.
Musk, an active supporter of Trump, has publicly shared his own viewpoint, even reflecting on his feelings regarding Vivian’s transition.
In a previous comment, he expressed regret about permitting puberty blockers, stating, “I lost my son… They call it ‘deadnaming’ because your son is dead, killed by the woke mind virus.”
