Emergency Rule: Rivers Administrator to Face Reps Today

The Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), was expected to appear before the House of Representatives Committee on emergency administration on Thursday, but his seat remained empty.

The much-anticipated session, held behind closed doors, lasted close to an hour, and committee members declined to speak to the press after the meeting.

According to insiders, the meeting was supposed to question Ibas on the ongoing governance situation in Rivers State following the controversial declaration of emergency rule and the appointment of a Sole Administrator.

However, a source familiar with the matter said Ibas was absent due to his participation in the National Economic Council meeting chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

He is now scheduled to appear before the committee on Friday, April 25, at 10 a.m., within the National Assembly premises.
