The ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests have entered the third day, with Abuja demonstrators gathering at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
Earlier today, the protesters extended an invitation to leaders from the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, requesting a “heart-to-heart” discussion at the protest site.
Sydney Usman, a prominent figure from the Take It Back Movement, spoke to the crowd, expressing gratitude for the support religious leaders have provided through media channels.
Usman specifically asked these leaders to physically join the protesters on Monday, August 4, 2024, to engage in direct dialogue.
“The protesters see the religious leaders as paternal figures in the community and believe their presence and support are crucial in addressing the nation’s governance issues,” Usman stated. The protesters are voicing their dissatisfaction with the current state of governance in Nigeria and are calling for substantial reforms.
Usman highlighted the challenges faced by the protesters, particularly the violent reactions from police forces since the demonstrations began. He condemned the police attacks and reiterated the peaceful nature of the protests, urging for nonviolent approaches from all parties involved.
