EPL: We Lost Control And They Scored Two – Palmer Reacts To Derby Loss

Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer has shared his thoughts on the team’s disappointing 2-1 loss to Fulham on Boxing Day, citing a lack of control in the final stages of the match as the key factor behind the defeat.

The game, played at Stamford Bridge, marked Fulham’s first away win at the venue since 1979, adding historical significance to the Cottagers’ victory.

Speaking on the club’s website, Palmer acknowledged the team’s strong start, saying, “We were winning for the majority of the game, but to lose at the end is difficult. First half we played well. We controlled the game. We had quite a few chances.”

However, the second half told a different story, with Chelsea struggling to maintain their dominance.

Palmer admitted that Fulham capitalized on their strengths in transitions, explaining, “We lost control for 20 minutes and they scored two.” He further emphasized the need for better game management to avoid similar outcomes in the future.

Despite the loss, Palmer sees the setback as an opportunity for growth. With another match against Ipswich just days away, he stressed the importance of focusing on recovery and learning from the experience. “It’s a good opportunity to learn, rest, recover, and play in three days,” he said.

The midfielder remained optimistic about Chelsea’s progress under new management, highlighting that the team is still in the early stages of development. “We’re just playing, winning, getting better as a team, growing, and that’s what we’re doing,” he concluded.
