Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has assured the people that God will overcome the challenges facing the state and thwart its enemies in the coming year.
Speaking at the New Year’s crossover church service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Opobo Town, Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, Fubara highlighted the importance of divine intervention in achieving peace and progress for Rivers State.
The service, which marked the transition into 2025, was filled with songs of praise and worship.
Leading the congregation in a spirited song, Fubara declared, “At the mention of your name (God), every knee shall bow. At the mention of your name, every tongue confesses. That you are Lord, you are Lord, you are King, you are King of kings.”
He encouraged attendees to place their trust in God, emphasizing that faith and perseverance would guide them to triumph in the New Year.
Reflecting on the past year, Fubara noted the difficulties faced by the state but expressed confidence in overcoming future challenges. “The Red Biro is still filled. It is still here with me. Every enemy plan will continue to crash,” he said, wishing everyone a prosperous 2025.
The service was officiated by the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Niger Delta, Dr. Emmanuel Oko-Jaja, who acknowledged the hardships of 2024, including economic struggles, blackmail, and attacks.
However, he emphasized that God’s faithfulness had brought victory to those who remained grateful and steadfast.
Oko-Jaja prayed for peace, unity, and development in line with the state government’s 2025 Budget of Inclusive Growth and Development.
Prominent individuals in attendance included Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo, Chief of Staff Dr. Edison Ehie, several National Assembly members, and traditional rulers, such as King Dandeson Jaja.
