Ex-AGF Kanu Agabi to Lead Nnamdi Kanu’s Defense in Terrorism Trial

Former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Kanu Agabi, has been brought in to lead the legal defense team for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Kanu is facing terrorism charges filed against him by the federal government.

Agabi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), is taking over from Aloy Ejimakor, who has been representing Kanu in court. Sources note that the decision to engage Agabi was made due to his persuasive approach to handling criminal cases.

Agabi is a well-known legal expert with years of experience in defending high-profile individuals. He previously led the legal team for former Senate President Bukola Saraki when the federal government charged him with alleged false asset declaration. His involvement in Kanu’s case is seen as a significant development, as many believe his expertise could have an impact on the outcome of the trial.

At the time of this report, the federal government’s legal team, led by Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), had already arrived in court along with a group of other lawyers. Meanwhile, security officials from the Department of State Services (DSS) were expected to bring Kanu to the court for his arraignment.
