The Family Fellowship, a ministry recently founded by former City of David Parish pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, has acquired a permanent site at Eko Atlantic. Pastor Iluyomade announced this development during the ministry’s second service, held at Civic Centre, Lagos, noting that the land was generously donated by a member of the church.
During his sermon titled “Giving,” Pastor Iluyomade spoke extensively about the importance of tithes, offerings, and supporting others. He addressed common misunderstandings about giving within the Christian faith, urging believers to see it as a key principle of their relationship with God.
“As believers, you have to be very careful because there are all kinds of doctrines flying around today,” Pastor Iluyomade said. “I want us to reason together because there have been many teachings concerning giving. If you are not careful, you will miss it in this area, and that is the gospel truth.”
He explained that tithing, which represents 10 percent of one’s income, belongs to God and is essential for sustaining the work of the ministry. “God knows mathematics,” he said, referring to Malachi 3, where God rebukes those who withhold tithes and offerings. “We need to repent. If God calls us robbers, we should ask ourselves: will any robber enter heaven?”
Pastor Iluyomade also noted the importance of helping the poor, especially in challenging times. He encouraged Christians to give in proportion to their income, adding that ministry requires financial support to thrive.
“Ministry costs money—that’s why God said we should bring tithes so the needs of His house are met. Concerning offerings, God said everyone should give according to how He has blessed them,” he explained.
Two members of the church demonstrated this spirit of giving by donating ₦4 million to Bethesda Home & School for the Blind during the service. Pastor Iluyomade applauded their generosity, using it as an example for others.
