EXCLUSIVE: Tinubu Set To Rejig NNPC, Ojulari May Take Over From Kyari

*Akinyelure expected to step down as Board Chair

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may have approved a plan to reorganise the NNPCL with a new Group Chief Executive Officer replacing the incumbent and a new Chairman of the board.

Informed Sources have confirmed to Empowered Newswire that Mr. Bayo Ojulari, a well regarded, former top official of Shell, where he was the Managing Director, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) in Nigeria has been tipped to replace Mele Kyari.

Also, the well-known Mr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, one time Deputy Managing Director of Total Oil will become the new Chairman of the Board of the national oil company.

Chief Pius Akinyelure who was named the Board Chairman in 2023 is now expected to step down in the new rearrangement, details of which are still sketchy at press time.

But there are also indications that Mr. Mele Kyari will stay in office up until the 1st of March, while Roland Ewubare will become Group Chief Operating Officer.

It would be recalled that few years ago Roland Ewubare resigned from the NNPC as Chief Operating Officer at NNPC, amid speculations that both himself and Mele Kyari fell out.

According to Wikipedia, “Mr. Bayo Bashir Ojulari is a Nigerian engineer and expert in petroleum, process and production engineering. He was managing director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) from 2015 to 2021.

“Ojulari began his engineering career in Nigeria and served in different leadership positions in Nigeria engineering professional organisations including as chairman and member of board of trustees of Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE Nigeria Council) between 1998 and 1999. He is a Fellow of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).Ojulari worked in Europe and Middle East in different managerial capacities in Petroleum Engineering, Process Engineering, Production Engineering and in health and safety roles.

“Ojulari was appointed Managing Director Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) and as general manager, Deepwater in November 2015. Within this period, he served as a member of the board of directors of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) responsible for Onshore and Offshore Petroleum Engineering, Technical Integration of Development, Well and Project Engineering.He retired from his positions in Shell in July 2021.”

Similarly, Wikipedia reports that Ahmadu Musa Kida is a Nigerian engineer and former basketball player, who hails from Borno State in Nigeria. He was the Deputy Managing Director, Deep Water Services, of Total Nigeria

Kida and “started his career as a professional at ELF Petroleum Nigeria as a trainee engineer and materials coordinator. Mr Musa joined Total Exploration & Production Nigeria in 1985 and has over 32 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas industry.

“Mr Musa was appointed the Deputy Managing Director of TEPNG Deepwater District as well as on the Board member of Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria on August 1, 2015.

“Kida became a member of the Total E&P Nigeria board in 2014 as executive director for the Port Harcourt district.[5][8]

“In August 2015, Kida was appointed as the deputy managing director of the Deepwater district.”
