FAAN Resumes Access Gate Fee Collection at Abuja Airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has restarted the collection of access gate fees at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The collection had been temporarily halted due to road construction at the airport.

FAAN announced the resumption in a public statement on its official X account on Saturday. The statement confirmed that the collection of fees resumed at exactly 8:30 AM on February 8, 2025.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform the general public that the Authority has officially resumed collection of access gate fees at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 8:30 AM, 8th February 2025.”

The fee collection was originally suspended on January 24, 2025, due to disruptions caused by ongoing construction. The temporary halt was meant to ease movement for travelers and other road users affected by the construction work.

“The collection was suspended on the 24th of January due to the inconvenience caused by the road construction,” FAAN had stated earlier.

Before the suspension, passengers, visitors, and other airport users were required to pay a fee at the access gate before entering the airport premises. However, the construction work caused significant traffic congestion, prompting FAAN to stop the collection temporarily.

The agency noted that the suspension lasted from Friday, January 24, 2025, to Friday, February 7, 2025. This move was intended to ensure smoother movement for those traveling to and from the airport while the construction work progressed.
