FG Commissions CNG Conversion, Training Centre in Kano

The federal government has taken a significant step toward promoting cleaner energy and job creation by inaugurating a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion and training centre in Gundutse, Kura Local Government Area of Kano State.

The event, which took place on Monday, marks an essential milestone in the country’s efforts to expand its CNG infrastructure and help citizens cope with the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

At the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, the Director General and Chief Executive of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, highlighted the importance of the new centre.

He stated that the establishment of this facility would provide much-needed support for the conversion of vehicles to run on CNG, which is a cleaner and more cost-effective fuel option compared to traditional gasoline.

This centre will also serve as a hub for training auto mechanics in the intricate process of converting vehicle engines to operate on CNG.

Osanipin also shared that the centre in Kano is part of a larger nationwide initiative. According to him, 21 CNG conversion centres are planned for different parts of Nigeria, with 15 already fully equipped and functional. The remaining centres are expected to be completed in the near future.
