FG Debunks Fake Ambassadorial Nominee List, Says No Appointments Made

The Federal Government has officially addressed the spread of a fake list of ambassadorial nominees making rounds on social media, urging Nigerians to disregard the false information. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs made this announcement through a formal statement issued on Sunday.

According to the statement, which was signed by Kimiebi Ebienfa, the spokesperson for the ministry, no ambassadorial appointments have been made at this time. The ministry made it clear that the authority to appoint ambassadors lies exclusively with the President of Nigeria.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the general public to kindly disregard the fake list of ambassadorial nominees which is currently in circulation on some social media platforms,” the statement said. It further emphasized that “the appointment of ambassadors is the prerogative of Mr President, and no such appointments have been made in that regard. The purported list should, therefore, be discountenanced.”
