Fire Breaks Out at FIIRO Office in Lagos, Destroys Property Worth Millions

A devastating fire engulfed the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi (FIIRO) office near Cappa Bus Stop in Lagos during the early hours of Christmas Day, causing significant damage to property.

The blaze reportedly started around midnight and continued into the morning of Boxing Day, with emergency services working tirelessly to contain it.

Emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), were at the scene battling the flames. According to reports, no lives have been lost, but the fire has destroyed property valued at millions of naira.

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with thick black smoke visible from nearby areas. Efforts were immediately focused on preventing the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and offices. Rescue operations were still ongoing as of 5 a.m. on Thursday.

A source at the scene noted, “The fire spread quickly due to the nature of the materials in the building. Thankfully, emergency teams responded swiftly to minimize the damage.”
