Former Labour Party Governorship Aspirant Joins APC, Gives Reason

Former Labour Party governorship aspirant in Anambra State, Valentine Ozigbo, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). Ozigbo completed his registration at his ward in Amesi, Aguata Local Government Area, just a day after resigning from the Labour Party.

Ozigbo, who previously ran for governor under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2021 election but lost to Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), explained that his move to the APC was based on his belief in progressive governance and the need to align with leaders who share his vision for Anambra and Nigeria.

The former CEO of Transcorp Plc was a known ally of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi. However, his decision to leave the party signals a new political direction. According to him, members of the APC in his ward visited his home on Thursday, where they officially welcomed him into the party.

Speaking through his campaign team, the Valentine Campaign Organisation, Ozigbo said, “This historic decision was formalised today (Thursday) when I completed my registration as a member of the APC at my ward in Amesi, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

“I was warmly received by party executives and stakeholders at the ward and local government levels. My decision to join the APC is driven by my deep-rooted belief in progressive governance, my desire to work alongside forward-thinking leaders, and my determination to champion policies that will uplift the people of Anambra and Nigeria at large.”

During his meeting with party leaders, Ozigbo noted his commitment to economic development, people-centred governance, and policies that will benefit the people of Anambra. He also stressed the importance of working with like-minded leaders to bring about meaningful change in the state.
