Former Presidential Spokesman Joins Tinubu in Celebrating Osinbajo at 68

Former presidential aide, Laolu Akande, has joined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in celebrating former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on his 68th birthday.

Akande, who served as Osinbajo’s spokesperson during his tenure, praised the former vice president’s contributions to national development, describing him as a source of inspiration.

In a statement shared on Inside Sources with Laolu Akande on Channels Television and posted on X (formerly Twitter), Akande echoed President Tinubu’s message, acknowledging Osinbajo’s dedicated service to Nigeria.

“Let’s celebrate Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, who, as @officialABAT described in his birthday greetings yesterday, ‘remains my friend and associate. He served our country meritoriously as Vice President to that patriotic leader, President Muhammadu Buhari.’ What more can I say? Happy 68th birthday, my dear Prof. You exist to inspire!” Akande wrote.

The significance of this year’s birthday message from President Tinubu has not gone unnoticed, as it marks the first time the president is publicly congratulating Osinbajo since assuming office.

Last year, Tinubu did not extend a public birthday greeting to his former associate, sparking speculation about the nature of their post-administration relationship.

Osinbajo, who served as vice president from 2015 to 2023, was widely recognized for his role in economic policy, judicial reforms, and youth empowerment initiatives.

His tenure saw him acting as president on multiple occasions, during which he was praised for decisive leadership and policy interventions.

With Tinubu’s public acknowledgment of Osinbajo’s contributions, political analysts suggest that it could signal a rekindling of goodwill between the two leaders.

Akande’s tribute further reinforces the respect and admiration that many, including those who worked closely with Osinbajo, still hold for him.
