After an intense final day in the English Premier League, the season came to a close with a mix of excitement and relief as teams secured their spots for European competitions in 2025–26.
The 2024–25 Premier League season finished with plenty of drama, including last-minute goals and unexpected results that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Now, with the final standings and cup results confirmed, the list of English clubs heading to Europe next season is clear.
Champions League Participants
Six Premier League clubs will compete in the UEFA Champions League next season. Five of these teams earned their places through their league rankings, while one qualified by winning a European trophy.
Liverpool, managed by Arne Slot, topped the league and won the Premier League title after an impressive campaign. This achievement guarantees their return to Europe’s top football competition.
Arsenal finished second, showing strong form toward the end of the season under Mikel Arteta’s leadership. Manchester City secured third place with a crucial victory over Fulham on the final day, despite a season that was below their usual high standards.
Chelsea had a late-season resurgence, with new manager Enzo Maresca guiding them to victory against Nottingham Forest. This win helped them climb to fourth place and qualify for the Champions League.
Newcastle United, although losing on the last match day, managed to stay in fifth place due to a better goal difference compared to Aston Villa.
Tottenham Hotspur earned their spot in the Champions League by winning the UEFA Europa League final. Even though they finished outside the top five in the league, this victory gave them automatic entry into the competition.
Europa League Entrants
Crystal Palace surprised many by winning the FA Cup, a historic moment for the club. This triumph secured their place in the Europa League next season.
Aston Villa, after competing in the Champions League this season, could not keep up domestically. They ended the league in sixth place and will now focus on a strong run in the Europa League.
Conference League Qualifier
Nottingham Forest experienced a season full of ups and downs but ended on a positive note by qualifying for the UEFA Conference League. While they would have preferred a Champions League spot, this return to European football is still an important step for the club.
