Gaise Baba’s ‘No Turning Back II’ Breaks Record as Nigeria’s Highest-Charting Gospel Song

Gospel singer Gaise Baba has set a new record with his latest song, No Turning Back II, featuring Lawrence Iyor. The track has soared to No. 4 on the TurnTable Top 100 chart, making it the highest-ranked gospel song ever recorded on the chart in Nigeria.

The TurnTable chart gathers data from popular streaming services, radio airplay, and TV channels across Nigeria. According to a tweet from TurnTable, No Turning Back II beats the former record held by Favour by Lawrence Oyor, which had peaked at No. 23.

Another gospel hit, We Will Be Many by @Sounds_OfSalem featuring Lawrence Oyor and @MosesAkohJr, previously reached No. 26.

“It surpasses the No. 23 peak of Lawrence Oyor’s ‘Favour’ and the No. 26 peak of ‘We Will Be Many’ by @Sounds_OfSalem with Lawrence Oyor and @MosesAkohJr — all three songs have Lawrence Oyor as lead or featured artiste,” TurnTable tweeted.

One of the reasons No Turning Back II is performing so well is its strong message, combined with a beat that many listeners find catchy. The song is a reimagined version of the old hymn I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.

In addition to its musical qualities, the song gained more attention thanks to TikTok. Many users on the app have joined trending challenges based on the track, helping it spread quickly and reach new audiences, especially younger listeners.

These trends have brought more eyes—and ears—to gospel music in general.

This milestone shows how Nigerian gospel music is growing. Earlier in 2025, Lawrence Iyor’s Favour became a standout hit. Now, No Turning Back II continues that upward trend. The success of these songs shows that more people are open to gospel music and that it’s becoming a bigger part of the mainstream sound in Nigeria.
