Ganduje Woos Kwankwaso, Says NNPP Dead

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has declared that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) no longer stands a chance in the political space.

Speaking at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja during a visit by the Tinubu Support Group, Ganduje claimed that the NNPP has lost relevance, and its former presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is on his way back to the ruling party.

During his address, Ganduje noted that the APC is gaining more strength daily as political figures from different zones in the country are joining the party. According to him, this is proof of the ruling party’s increasing influence ahead of the 2027 general elections.

While speaking to the visitors, Ganduje used strong words to describe the current state of the NNPP. “The NNPP is dead. And it will soon be buried very, very soon. I’m hoping where we will put the dead body, the coffin has already been constructed,” he said.

He further added, “What remains now is to dig the grave. And already they are digging the grave very, very soon. Even like that, the so-called NNPP national leader, he too, he says after losing everyone, he wants to come back to us. We will welcome him, because he’s coming back home.”

Although Kwankwaso has not officially confirmed his return to the APC, Ganduje’s comments seem to suggest that discussions may be ongoing behind the scenes. The two men were once allies in Kano State politics before going separate ways in later years.

Ganduje also spoke about opposition groups planning to merge in an attempt to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the next election. He noted that such coalitions are likely to collapse before they even take shape, as many of the leaders involved, in his view, will eventually realign with the APC.
