Go Home, Rest, Prepare For Another Defeat In 2027 — Onochie tells Obi

Former presidential aide Lauretta Onochie has taken a swipe at Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, urging him to focus on the future rather than lingering on past electoral outcomes.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Onochie advised Obi and his supporters to stop campaigning and prepare for “another whooping in 2027.”

Onochie accused Obi’s supporters, often referred to as Obidients, of disregarding electoral regulations, pointing out that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has yet to lift the ban on political campaigns for the next election cycle.

She alleged that nearly two years after Obi’s loss in the 2023 elections, his followers continue to campaign, which she described as unnecessary and misplaced.

Her comments followed Obi’s New Year press conference in Abuja, where he criticized the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

In his address, titled Nigeria Needs Selfless and Exemplary Leadership, Obi expressed concerns about Nigeria’s worsening economic and security issues. He called for urgent actions to restore hope and alleviate citizens’ suffering.

Obi later revealed that he had received multiple threats since his remarks, attributing some of these to comments made by APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka.

During an Arise Television interview, Morka accused Obi of hypocrisy and attempting to incite the public, warning that Obi would face consequences for his actions.

However, refuting Obi’s claim, Onochie said the Labour Party chieftain was “too unserious and consequently inconsequential in the scheme of things in Nigeria today.”

She reiterated her advice to him and “his goons to go home, take a rest, and prepare for another whooping in 2027.”

The former presidential aide pointed out that Obi’s supporters, popularly known as Obidients, “are the ones going around showcasing their poor upbringing, with name-calling, ethnic/religious bigotry, and slut-shaming women, especially on social media. Enough of their shenanigans.”
