Governor Adeleke Confirms New Monarchs for Ijeshaland, Ora Igbomina

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has approved the appointment of Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup as the Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijeshaland. Similarly, Prince Johnson Adekanmi Abikoye has been confirmed as the Asaoni of Ora Igbomina.

This announcement was made in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi. According to Alimi, the appointments were ratified during the Osun State Executive Council Meeting, chaired by Governor Adeleke in Osogbo on Friday.

Prince Haastrup’s selection followed a voting process conducted by the kingmakers of the Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House, which declared him the Owa-elect. The meeting where the decision was finalized took place at the Ilesa West Local Government Secretariat.

Haastrup succeeds the late Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, who passed away on September 11, 2024.

In a similar vein, the appointment of Prince Abikoye as the Asaoni of Ora Igbomina comes after the death of Oba Tinuoye Atolagbe on November 19, 2023.

Governor Adeleke congratulated the two new monarchs and urged residents of their communities to embrace peace and unity under their leadership. “Let us work together to ensure progress and harmony in our towns,” he advised.
