Governor Soludo Rewards NECO’s Best Student with N500,000

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has awarded a cash prize of N500,000 to Miss Ifebude Benson for her outstanding performance in the 2023 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO).

The award was presented on Sunday in Awka by the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, on behalf of the governor. Ifebude, who could not attend the ceremony, was represented by her father, Mr. Ben Benson.

Chuma-Udeh noted that the governor’s gesture was aimed at promoting academic excellence among students in the state.

“The award is the governor’s way of encouraging academic excellence among Anambra pupils and students,” she said.

She also noted that the state government has invested significantly in the education sector to improve learning standards. According to her, these efforts are meant to ensure that students from Anambra can compete with their peers globally.

Ifebude, a native of Ndikelionwu in Orumba North Local Government Area, achieved an impressive academic feat by scoring A1 in all nine subjects she took in the examination. Her exceptional results earned her admission to the University of Abuja, where she is currently studying Medicine and Surgery.

Reacting to the award, Ifebude’s father, Mr. Ben Benson, expressed his gratitude to Governor Soludo.

He noted that the recognition would motivate his daughter to continue striving for excellence and bring pride to the state.
