Gunmen, on Monday Night, abducted Descon Tor Yaji, the President General of the Kunav United Development Association in Benue State. The attack occurred at Yaji’s residence in Tsar Mbaduku, located in Vandeikya Local Government Area.
Eyewitnesses reported that the community leader was socializing with friends around 10 p.m. when armed men stormed the area and forcibly took him away. The motive behind the abduction remains unclear, sparking fear and uncertainty within the local community.
The Benue State Police Command swiftly responded to the incident, with officers immediately launching a rescue operation.
Confirming the event on Tuesday, police spokesperson Catherine Anene issued a statement detailing their efforts to locate and secure Yaji’s release.
Anene stated, “On 30/12/2024 at about 2030hrs, information was received at Vandeikya Police Division that Mr. Emmanuel Tor Yaji of Tsar Mbaduku was kidnapped at Tsar where he sat relaxing with his friends. Swiftly, police detectives were deployed for his rescue and the investigation is ongoing.”
