Panic gripped the Kuyallo community in the eastern part of Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area, Kaduna State, when suspected bandits kidnapped two nurses and an unknown number of patients from the Primary Healthcare Centre.
The gunmen, whose numbers were described as large, initially targeted the nearby Government Day Secondary School around 9:00 am. However, finding the school empty, they turned their attention to the health centre.
Musa Alhassan, a leader of the local vigilante group, stated that the bandits had been aiming to abduct students.
“The bandits came to the school around 9:00 am, asking about the students, but when they found out the school was empty, they went to the healthcare centre and started kidnapping people,” he said. “The exact number of patients kidnapped is still unknown.”
According to an eyewitness, the assailants stormed the healthcare facility armed with guns and machetes, dragging people out of the hospital amidst chaos and fear. This incident has left the local community deeply unsettled, adding to the growing insecurity in the region.
This latest abduction comes just days after bandits attacked another community in Kaduna State last Friday. Residents have expressed growing concern over the increasing frequency of these violent attacks.
