A group of armed men attacked a church in Asagba Ogwashi, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, over the weekend. The attackers shot the pastor and kidnapped six members of the congregation.
The incident took place at Elyon Paradise Ministry Church during a night vigil. Witnesses said the gunmen stormed the church unexpectedly, causing panic among worshippers. They reportedly forced their way in, took six people, and fled to an unknown location.
The pastor, identified as Apostle Divine Omodia, was seriously injured during the attack. Reports indicate that he was shot and also had two fingers severed by the gunmen. The reason behind the brutal assault remains unclear.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident on Sunday, saying it was reported the previous evening. “A rescue team is currently in the bush on their trail,” Edafe said.
