Umar Namashaya Diggi, the former Chairman of Kalgo Local Government Area in Kebbi State, was kidnapped during an attack by unidentified assailants. The incident took place on Monday, February 17, around 12:30 am, as Diggi was traveling from Birnin Kebbi to his village.
Reports indicate that as Diggi was driving along the Birnin Kebbi-Diggi Road, an unknown vehicle began following him. Upon reaching Gayi village, the assailants forced him to stop. The criminals then set his Toyota Corolla, with registration number KLG 637 AA, on fire before fleeing the scene. Diggi’s current whereabouts remain unknown, and authorities are concerned for his safety.
Security forces quickly arrived at the scene to investigate. They recovered several items believed to be linked to the attack, including a lighter, a stick, and a container that had a fuel-like smell. These items are suspected to have been used in the fire that destroyed the vehicle.
