Haaland Miss Penalty as Manchester City Draw Everton 0-0

Manchester City’s struggles continued with a 1-1 draw against Everton at the Etihad Stadium, as Erling Haaland failed to convert a crucial second-half penalty. This result adds to City’s ongoing slump, with only one victory in their last 13 matches across all competitions.

City began the match with high hopes and took an early lead through Bernardo Silva. The midfielder’s shot deflected off Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, leaving goalkeeper Jordan Pickford helpless.

However, despite dominating early on, City failed to capitalize on their chances. Silva missed a clear opportunity to double the lead, and Everton responded strongly.

Manuel Akanji’s misstep led to Iliman Ndiaye’s stunning equalizer, marking Everton’s first away goal in over two months. Despite City’s efforts to regain control, including Mateo Kovacic’s close attempt and Savinho’s penalty appeal, they failed to break through.

Haaland, who has been struggling to find form, had a golden chance to end his Etihad goal drought after winning a penalty. However, his low strike was saved by Pickford, keeping the score level. Haaland has now scored just once in his last seven appearances, contributing to City’s dip in form.

City manager Pep Guardiola acknowledged the pressure, admitting the team risks missing out on Champions League qualification for the first time in 15 years. “Now we are at risk, of course we are. Definitely,” Guardiola stated.

The draw moves Manchester City to sixth in the Premier League, potentially five points off the top four. Everton, meanwhile, climb to 15th, edging further away from the relegation zone.
