Hardship: Tinubu Destroyed Everything He Met on Ground Within Two Years – Peter Ameh

The National Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Peter Ameh, has strongly criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of worsening the nation’s economy and increasing hardship for Nigerians just two years into his tenure.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News Friday night, Mr. Ameh, who is also a former presidential aspirant, did not hold back in his assessment of the current government. He said the removal of fuel subsidy by President Tinubu was done without proper planning, and the outcome has deepened the poverty and suffering already experienced by Nigerians.

He noted that the way the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration has managed its economic policies shows a clear lack of empathy for ordinary citizens who were already struggling under previous governments.

“The President removed the fuel subsidy without a clear plan or policy direction,” Ameh said. “It was an impromptu decision that was not well thought out.”

According to him, the sudden removal of the subsidy led to a drastic increase in fuel prices, which jumped from N197 per litre to almost N1,000. This has caused a ripple effect on the cost of living, especially in transportation and food.

He questioned whether the ruling APC leaders are living in reality, saying, “Is it that the members of the APC live in an alternate universe, or they are too scared to face the reality that the Nigerian people are facing?”

Ameh also pointed out that President Tinubu made promises, such as cultivating 500,000 hectares of farmland, but those have not been fulfilled. “None of that he has done,” he said.

He further noted that many of the President’s policy statements seem impulsive and lack follow-through. “Every time he wakes up, he says one thing, and we need to follow and remain hopeful,” he said.

Ameh described the economic situation as unbearable for everyday Nigerians, stressing that transportation costs have surged and that this directly impacts the price of goods and services.

“In the last two years, the President has worsened our economic progress,” he stated. “He has destroyed everything he met on ground.”

He concluded by saying that if the government had been truly effective in the past two years, Nigerians would have seen visible improvements in their daily lives.
