Harry Kane opened the scoring in a game filled with emotion and history as Bayern Munich celebrated their Bundesliga title with a 2-0 win over Borussia Moenchengladbach. The match at the Allianz Arena was not just a routine victory—it marked Kane’s first major title and Thomas Mueller’s final home appearance after an incredible 25-year career at the club.
Although Bayern had already secured the title a day earlier, thanks to Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw at Freiburg, the occasion was still grand. The team officially received the Bundesliga shield in front of a sold-out home crowd after the full-time whistle.
Kane put Bayern ahead in the 31st minute, converting a header from a Michael Olise cross. The goal was Kane’s 25th in the league this season—a strong statement from the English striker who joined Bayern in search of silverware after years of near-misses with Tottenham.
Despite their lead, Bayern seemed a little sluggish for stretches of the match. Moenchengladbach created several chances to equalize but failed to convert, with finishing letting them down at key moments. Bayern eventually sealed the win in the final minute, as Olise scored from close range after a scrappy build-up inside the box.
One of the most emotional moments of the evening came when Thomas Mueller, playing his 750th game for Bayern, was subbed off with seven minutes left. The 35-year-old hugged his teammates one by one as the squad and staff formed a guard of honour. Fans stood and applauded a man who won 13 Bundesliga titles and two Champions League trophies in red.
Speaking to Sky Germany, Mueller said: “I can’t really work it through in my mind at the moment,” and added that he was touched by “75,000 hearts which were beating just a little bit for me.”
Also noted was the farewell given to Eric Dier. The English defender, who joined Bayern on loan, is set to join AS Monaco this summer. He was acknowledged by teammates and supporters before kickoff in a quiet but respectful send-off.
