Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have taken strict security measures at the Federal High Court in Abuja as the trial of former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, resumed on Monday.
Eyewitnesses at the scene noted that EFCC officers arrived early in the morning, fully armed, and took positions around the court premises. One of their vehicles was used to block a major road leading to the courthouse, limiting access to the area.
In addition to firearms, the operatives were seen with security dogs and other equipment as part of their preparations to maintain order.
The heightened security presence caused some concern among those entering the court, especially lawyers who were required to undergo multiple security checks before being allowed inside.
