Hojlund Scores Late Winner as Manchester United Beat Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford

Manchester United ended a six-game winless streak with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory against Brentford at Old Trafford. Rasmus Hojlund’s late goal secured the much-needed win, easing some of the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.

The first half of the game saw Manchester United struggle to create any meaningful chances. The team’s lack of attacking flair continued, extending their Premier League goal drought to 300 minutes. Despite playing at home, the Red Devils found it difficult to break down Brentford’s defense, which stood strong throughout the opening 45 minutes.

In stoppage time before the break, the match took a controversial turn. Brentford’s defender Ethan Pinnock took advantage of a corner kick to score a header, putting the visitors in the lead. Manchester United’s defense was caught off guard, and the Old Trafford crowd was left frustrated as their team entered halftime trailing.

As the second half began, Manchester United came out with more urgency. Manager Erik ten Hag, clearly feeling the pressure, made adjustments that helped United come alive. Just two minutes into the second half, Marcus Rashford delivered a precise cross into the box, which Alejandro Garnacho volleyed into the back of the net. The goal brought relief to the home fans, who cheered as their team finally broke their scoring drought and leveled the match at 1-1.

United kept pushing for a winner, with Garnacho and midfielder Casemiro both testing Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken from long range. Brentford defended well and tried to hold on to the draw, but the hosts’ pressure continued to mount.

In the closing stages of the match, Manchester United’s persistence paid off. Captain Bruno Fernandes played a clever flick that set up Rasmus Hojlund. The young striker remained calm and chipped the ball over Flekken, scoring the winning goal and sending the Old Trafford crowd into celebration.

The 2-1 victory provided a much-needed boost for Erik ten Hag’s side, who had been underperforming in recent weeks. Hojlund’s late winner could prove crucial for the Red Devils as they look to regain form and climb the Premier League table.
