The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has taken steps to address allegations of homosexual misconduct involving two of its leaders, encouraging church members and the public to submit any evidence they may have.
The church provided a dedicated phone number and email address for this purpose, demonstrating its commitment to a transparent investigation.
On Tuesday, reports surfaced that RCCG had suspended Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa from their positions amid allegations of homosexual misconduct with young church members.
The suspension, described by church officials as a “precautionary measure,” will remain in place indefinitely while an in-depth investigation is conducted.
The case has been assigned to the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, who has been tasked with gathering and reviewing evidence within a two-week timeframe.
In an official statement issued late Tuesday, Pastor Sunday Akande, RCCG’s National Overseer, reaffirmed the church’s commitment to integrity and transparency, and outlined the process for submitting evidence.
The statement, titled “RCCG Addresses Allegations Against Youth Ministers,” clarified that RCCG seeks only verified information directly related to the allegations against Pastor AdeBello and Deacon Mayowa.
“We encourage anyone with pertinent evidence that could assist our investigation to come forward. Please note that only substantiated evidence directly related to this case will be considered; other submissions will not be reviewed.
“All evidence should be forwarded to the Special Assistant to the General Overseer [Administration] via rccgadm@gmail.com or 09039000700. Your cooperation will reinforce our commitment to justice and ensure a thorough resolution.”
“As a precautionary measure, the Youth Ministers have been placed on indefinite suspension and removed from all ministerial duties until we can fully address these allegations.”
“We are dedicated to transparency and will not tolerate any actions that contradict our core values nor cover up wrongful conduct.
“We appreciate any assistance in this matter and ask that individuals or groups with tangible evidence provide the necessary details,” the statement reads.
