Phyna, the winner of the 2022 Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality show, has revealed her intention to relinquish her family surname, “Otabor,” citing a lack of connection with her relatives and ongoing personal struggles. The reality TV star shared the emotional revelation in a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
In her post, Phyna disclosed that she feels disconnected from her family and is still searching for clarity about her origins. “I am publicly dropping my family surname OTABOR… it has been proven that I actually have no family and nobody knows how I came about,” she wrote, describing the turmoil she has been experiencing.
The BBNaija star hinted at a troubled past, suggesting that her upbringing was marked by instability. She reflected on being moved around among relatives during her childhood, a situation she now views with suspicion. “Going up and the way I was toss around relative I should suspected but guess I was too young… omo my head wan tear!!!!!!” she added.
This announcement comes after a public feud with her family last year. During the dispute, her father alleged that Phyna had cut ties with them, refusing to respond to their calls. The fallout sparked widespread discussion on social media, highlighting the strained dynamics between Phyna and her family.
