I Remain a loyal APC Member and I Like to be Addressed as Such – Buhari

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that he remains committed to the party that supported him throughout his two-term presidency.

His statement comes at a time when former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai, a known political ally, recently left the APC to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP). This move has fueled speculation that other key figures might also exit the ruling party.

However, Buhari has made it clear that he has no intention of following suit. In a statement released on Thursday by his media aide, Mallam Garba Shehu, the former president dismissed any doubts regarding his political stance.

“Without referring to any individual, group, or ongoing discussions within the party, former President Muhammadu Buhari reiterates that he remains a committed member of the APC and wishes to be recognized as such,” the statement read.

The statement further stressed that Buhari has no plans to abandon the party that played a crucial role in his presidency. He assured that he would continue to contribute to the party’s growth and stability.

“I am an APC member, and I like to be addressed as such. I will try to popularize the party by all means,” Buhari stated.

The former president also acknowledged the support he received from the party during his time in office, saying it was a great honor to serve under its platform. He noted that the efforts made by the party’s founding members to build a strong democratic institution should be protected and sustained.
