Senate President Godswill Akpabio revealed that he spent a night at the Dangote Cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State, on the same day Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan got married.
Akpabio made this statement while addressing the Senate regarding allegations of sexual harassment leveled against him by the Kogi lawmaker.
He noted that Senator Natasha’s husband is a close friend of his, which is why he wanted to clarify his relationship with them. The former Akwa Ibom governor explained that his overnight stay at the factory was due to poor lighting at the Kogi airport, making it unsafe for him to travel at that time.
Akpabio’s comments came while the Senate was discussing the findings of the Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions. The committee recommended that Senator Natasha apologize to the Senate for allegedly disrespecting the institution.
It was also noted that during her suspension, she would lose her salary and security details. Additionally, the committee stated that Senator Natasha should not be seen within the National Assembly premises throughout her suspension period.
