The newly appointed Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, has announced his determination to lead efforts in bringing Kano State back under the control of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the 2027 elections.
During his first official visit to Kano after joining the Federal Executive Council, Ata made it clear that his appointment represents more than just a governmental role; he sees it as a political mission.
In a media briefing, Ata outlined his intentions to tackle the challenge of Kano’s political landscape, especially within Kano Central, his home constituency.
He explained, “My appointment is primarily for political reasons. APC has lost Kano, and now it’s time to bring it back.” His plan includes frequent visits to Kano, intending to balance his ministerial duties with weekly trips to the state to work on his political goals.
Although Ata’s role is based within the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, he aims to dedicate considerable time and effort to reconnecting with the people of Kano and reinforcing APC’s presence in the state.
Expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment, Ata framed it as a chance to contribute positively to both Kano and Nigeria. He reassured the President and party supporters by stating, “Come 2027, Kano will be back in APC’s fold. This is my promise to the President and the party.”
