‘I’m in Charge of Land in Abuja’ – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has reiterated his control over land administration in Abuja, addressing allegations of land grabbing.

Speaking on Thursday at a Thanksgiving service organized by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ahoada East and West local government areas of Rivers State, Wike expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing him to the role.

Wike acknowledged that the opportunity to serve in Tinubu’s administration gave him a clearer view of the complexities of governing Nigeria.

Addressing the allegations of land grabbing, Wike firmly denied the claims, stating, “Those who are grabbing land are the people I am dealing with… I am in charge of land in Abuja, how will I go and grab what I am in charge?”

The minister emphasized his commitment to enforcing rules and ensuring compliance in the FCT, despite resistance from some quarters.

“People think that because yesterday nobody was able to implement rules, it means that today, nobody would be able to do it,” he remarked, affirming his support for the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche, commended Wike’s transformative leadership, stating that his achievements in Abuja reflect his dedication to development, just as he demonstrated in Rivers State.
