“I’m No Longer Part of Them” – Kemi Olunloyo Disowns Family Following Father’s Passing

Controversial media personality, Kemi Olunloyo, has made it clear she no longer identifies with her paternal family following the death of her father, former Oyo State Governor, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo. The ex-governor, who was also known for his expertise in mathematics and politics, passed away on Sunday, April 6, at the age of 89.

In several videos and posts uploaded to her social media accounts, including Facebook and TikTok, Kemi announced that she had officially cut ties with the Olunloyo family. She told her followers that she would not be accepting condolences regarding her father’s death and reiterated her decision to remain disconnected from the family.

“I am uploading video statements on my father’s death on TikTok. I am not part of the Olunloyo family anymore and told you that in 2024 that I will never return to Nigeria even if my parents died,” she stated in one of her video messages.

Olunloyo further explained that she had a complicated and painful relationship with her father. According to her, he showed two different sides — one to the public and another behind closed doors. She claimed he portrayed himself as a loving father and intellectual figure in public, but was abusive within the family.

“My father, Victor Omololu Olunloyo, is two different people. He was one person to the world; he was another person to the family. My father destroyed our family unit; my father tortured us as kids. He tortured us emotionally and physically,” she said.

She also claimed that her father had a history of occult involvement, which, according to her, he later renounced after becoming a born-again Christian. “My father was into ‘juju’ heavily. My father was into occult practices… After I called him out, he went to Pastor E.A. Adeboye that he wanted to become born-again, and he did,” she noted.

Kemi went on to speak about family conflicts that she believes were worsened by her father’s relationship with another woman, Aderonke Omololu Olunloyo, also known as Ronke Sonaike. She said her father met Ronke during his 1983 political campaign and that their union deeply affected her mother.

“My mother married an intellectual, a man who got his Ph.D at 26 years old. And he turned into a polygamist… Not that polygamists are not good, but the way it happened to my family,” she said.
