I’m recovering from failed kidney transplant, TG Omori updates fans

Award-winning Nigerian cinematographer and music video director, ThankGod Omori, widely known as TG Omori, recently shared an update on his health journey, revealing that he is recovering from a failed kidney transplant. The beloved artist, known for his vibrant music videos, has been candid about his ongoing health struggles, which began over a year ago due to a kidney ailment.

On Friday, Omori posted on his X account, expressing gratitude for the support and prayers from his fans. He stated, “Up and grateful, O Lord. (Sadly, I can’t backflip.) Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes.” He continued by sharing, “I’m healing now from the stitches of the failed one, I’ll continue the fight. I’ve been on it for the past year or two, and I can’t back down now.” Despite his current health challenges, Omori expressed his determination to continue creating music videos that bring joy to his supporters.

Omori’s condition took a turn when his only brother generously donated a kidney in an attempt to save his life.

Unfortunately, the transplant was unsuccessful, leading Omori to undergo multiple surgeries at St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos. He revealed on Wednesday, “One year after my kidney failed, I just had a failed transplant at St Nicolas Hospital Lagos. Pray for me.” The failed transplant has been a setback in his health journey, but Omori remains resilient, emphasizing that he is not ready to give up.

The cinematographer, who has been in the operating room three times, remains hopeful, asking his fans to keep his spirit alive. He expressed his deep gratitude towards his brother, who made a significant sacrifice by donating a kidney. Omori shared his emotional journey on social media with a photo from his hospital bed, saying, “Yesterday, my only brother gave me one of his kidneys so I could live again. Keep my spirit alive. I don’t want to die.”
