I’m Resting After Delivering $20bn Refinery – Dangote

Nigerian billionaire and industrialist Aliko Dangote has stated that he is currently resting after successfully delivering his massive $20 billion refinery project. The refinery, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, is one of the largest in the world and has begun exporting refined petroleum products to various African and Middle Eastern countries.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for First Bank’s new 43-storey headquarters in Eko Atlantic City, Lagos, Dangote reflected on the challenges he faced during the construction of the refinery. He described the project as the biggest risk of his life, admitting that it was a difficult journey.

Now that the refinery is operational, Dangote said he is taking some well-earned rest. However, he acknowledged an invitation from his friend, businessman Femi Otedola, to invest in Eko Atlantic City, saying, “Maybe soon, not now I’m resting right now. Having delivered the refinery I need some rest but I’ll come, I’ll be here very soon.”

Dangote praised Otedola, who is the Chairman of FirstHoldCo, for leading the construction of the First Bank headquarters. He noted that Eko Atlantic is fast becoming the new hub for corporate and financial institutions in Lagos and predicted that more banks would soon establish a presence there.
