JAMB Postpones UTME Registration to Monday

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has postponed the start of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration. Originally scheduled to begin earlier, the registration process will now start on Monday.

JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, in a statement released on Friday, noted that the decision was made to allow the board to make important adjustments to its registration system.

“These adjustments come in light of the recent suspension of certain law programmes at selected universities, as submitted to the Board by the Council for Legal Education. Additionally, the Board discovered that some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres had used deceptive facilities to be approved, prompting the need for further scrutiny and corrections by disapproving such centres.”

This means that some institutions will no longer be offering law programmes due to the Council for Legal Education’s decision, and candidates who were planning to apply to those universities will need to make changes to their choices.

Additionally, JAMB found that some CBT centres had gained approval using fraudulent means. This has led the board to conduct further investigations and remove such centres from the list of approved registration and examination venues. By doing so, JAMB aims to maintain a fair and credible registration and examination process for all candidates.

JAMB also acknowledged that the delay might cause inconvenience for candidates, parents, and other stakeholders.

“The Board acknowledges the disruption this may cause to candidates and other stakeholders and sincerely apologises for any inconvenience.

“The additional time will be used to ensure that all necessary changes are made for a smooth registration process,” the statement read.
