Jesus Hates Poverty, Never Visited the Poor – Ibiyeomie

Pastor David Ibiyeomie, founder of Salvation Ministries, has declared that Jesus Christ never visited any poor person in their home during His time on earth, suggesting it was a deliberate choice reflecting His disdain for poverty.

In a video trending on X, Pastor Ibiyeomie argued that a careful reading of the Bible reveals that Jesus never visited the homes of the poor, instead choosing to interact with individuals of a higher social standing.

The pastor pointed out that Jesus dined with Lazarus, who, while not impoverished, provided food for Him, and He also visited the wealthy tax collector Zacchaeus.

Ibiyeomie suggested that these encounters were intentional, signaling that poverty was something that Jesus disliked, rather than sympathized with.

The sermon further explored the idea that Jesus’ mission on earth was not only to offer spiritual salvation but also to deliver believers from poverty.

According to Ibiyeomie, being poor was not part of God’s plan for His followers, and continuing to live in poverty after embracing Christianity is a sign of spiritual ignorance. The preacher emphasized that while it is acceptable to come to Christ in a state of poverty, it is not acceptable for Christians to remain poor.

In his words; In his words, “Jesus never visited any poor person in his house, check your bible. That means he hates poverty. He visited Lazarus, they were not poor; they were giving him food. You can come poor but you’re not permitted to remain poor. Nothing wrong with you coming to Christ as a poor man, but it’s wrong for you to remain poor. It is wrong.”
