Another explosion has been reported at a pipeline manifold in the Omwawriwa area of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State. The incident occurred on Tuesday, just hours after a separate explosion rocked the Trans Niger Pipeline operated by Shell in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area.
According to local sources, the latest explosion happened at a manifold deep inside the forest, where a federal pipeline transports crude oil to Brass in Bayelsa State. Witnesses in the area reported seeing large flames and thick smoke rising from the site of the blast. However, there has been no official confirmation of the incident at this time.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that she would verify the situation but had not provided any updates as of the time of this report. Meanwhile, a video circulating online shows a massive fire burning in a remote location, believed to be the affected oil installation.
