The immediate past governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Bayelsa State, Engr. Udengs Eradiri, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). His decision comes with a strong endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who, according to Eradiri, has been instrumental in several key developmental projects in his Agudiama/Ekpetiama community in Yenagoa Local Government Area.
Eradiri, who made the switch to the APC by registering in Ward 10 Constituency 2, Yenagoa, shared that under President Tinubu’s administration, numerous projects have been implemented in his community. He specifically noted the contributions of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), led by Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, which provided clean drinking water, solar lights, shore protection, and a one-kilometer road to his area.
The former governorship candidate further expressed his appreciation for the ongoing interventionist programs carried out by the NDDC, which, he stated, had benefited several communities across the Niger Delta region. Among the notable projects, he mentioned the light-up initiative, which has brought electricity to many remote areas and helped curb crime in the region.
Eradiri also revealed that the NDDC has promised to carry out more projects, including the remodelling of a local secondary school and the construction of a quality lodge for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
At his registration event, which was attended by a large crowd of APC members and residents of his community, Eradiri noted that the combination of efforts from President Tinubu, the NDDC, and security services like the Tantita Security Services had led to significant improvements in the region. He credited these initiatives with helping to restore peace and drive steady infrastructural growth in the Niger Delta.
Additionally, Eradiri commended the signing of the Maritime University Bill and the establishment of the University of Technology and Environment in Ogoni, calling these steps pivotal in promoting peace and educational development in the region.
He also touched upon the improvements made to the East-West Road project under the current administration. He noted that the road had seen better progress during Tinubu’s tenure compared to past governments, particularly with the involvement of the current Minister of Works, Dr. Dave Umahi.
Eradiri expressed that, given the positive impact of these developments on his community and the wider Niger Delta region, joining the APC and supporting President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda was a logical decision. “For me, President Tinubu is one man I have admired since I was young,” he said, adding that this opportunity would allow him to learn from the president and contribute to the nation’s progress.
He also praised the government’s tax reforms, which he believes will drive governance accountability, encourage innovation, and provide job opportunities for the youth. With these reforms, Eradiri expressed confidence that local governments and states would work harder to foster growth and development across the country.
Concluding his statement, Eradiri called on all supporters in the Niger Delta to join him in backing the president, emphasizing that the success of Tinubu’s government will be beneficial for everyone in the region and beyond. He pledged to work closely with all APC stakeholders in Bayelsa to strengthen the party’s presence and ensure its continued success.
